Champagne BollingerLa Cote Aux Enfants Coteaux Champenois
- 2016 $155.00 per bottle Limited availabilityA stunning and extremely rare still wine produced only in the greatest vintages, Champagne Bollinger La Côte aux Enfants is a favorite amongst the unicorn-chasers and sommeliers alike. Sourced entirely from a single vineyard of Grand Cru Pinot Noir, arguably the greatest Grand Cru of Pinot Noir in the greatest Pinot Noir village of Aÿ, this wine is an almost Burgundian study of terroir and transparency. In short, it showcases the mastery of Pinot Noir by Bollinger. Perhaps no Champagne producer is so closely tied to a grape variety as Bollinger to Pinot Noir. Historically, Pinot Noir from Aÿ was the most popular wines of the French court, and specifically a favorite of King Henri IV. The results from this incredibly steep and totally chalky vineyard site just outside the village shows why: an utterly pure expression of Pinot Noir, offering a fine, delicate texture in the mouth, and a tautness giving it a beautifully long finish.
